102-year-old Elsie McLean became the oldest golfer ever to make a hole-in-one on a regulation course, breaking the age record of 101 set by Harold Stilson, who in 2001 used a four-iron to to ace the 16th hole at Deerfield Country Club in Florida.
McLean, who has been golfing for 74 years and once had a handicap of 17, used a driver for the par-3, 100-yard fourth hole at Bidwell Municipal Golf Course in Chico, California. She had been playing at Bidwell Park for over 70 years, when the greens were sand and women weren’t allowed to golf on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Hell, televisions first came out when she was 44, and now she will appear on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on April 24 to celebrate her accomplishment.
