Gordon Moves To DL

By Bryan Jeon

Philadelphia Phillies closer Tom Gordon has been placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, retroactive to Wednesday with inflammation in the rotator cuff of his throwing arm. The 39-year-old right-hander is 5 of 8 in save opportunities with a 4.82 ERA and 1.71 WHIP.

Fantasy Advice: Enter, Brett Myers. Remember the optimism offered by fantasy experts who said he’d eventually close when demoted to the bullpen? Well, Myers delivered in a hurry, picking up his first career save Thursday with a perfect 9th to secure the Phillies’ 9-7 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Since Myers has worked out of the bullpen, he has 3 holds, 1 save and 14 strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings pitched with a 1.04 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Being that he was never dropped in most leagues, try to rattle the owner into undervaluing this solid, interim closer if you’re looking for saves.
